By Tom Richards, contributing writer

Why does Walt Disney World have such a strong hold on our collective imaginations? While the spells cast by other theme parks, thrill rides, and resorts seem fleeting and dissipate rather quickly, the allure of Disney theme parks–especially the Magic Kingdom–endures. What sets these special places apart from other travel destinations?

Story and character.

The timeless tales told in Walt Disneys films, the original stories created by Imagineers, and the endearing personalities of famous Disney characters touch our hearts and stir our imaginations. The connections we make to the universal stories and archetypal characters found...

Imran Khan: Just having fun

Posted by has blogged 1307

In promos for the film, Khan and Kapoor are shown living it up in sin city Las Vegas where they accidentally meet and wake up one day in a haze to find out they have gotten married. Sounds familiar? Think Rachel and Ross in the smash TV hit show Friends or the Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz film What Happens in Vegas.

Okay, lets face it its a very popular theme. But getting drunk and then getting married is something that happens only in the first few scenes. Its a popular take-off place, but later the spotlight is on the couple and how they grow to like each other and how they bond. Apart from that initial similarity, there are no other similarities. There is no jackpot involved...

Last season, Wainwright had fun just being a fan

Posted by has blogged 1307

I rooted harder for that team last year than I ever rooted before. I was so fired up for them.

Wainwrights excitement peaked when St. Louis defeated Texas in Game 7 of the World Series to win its second title in six years.

The only difference between Wainwright and Cardinal Nation that night was Wainwright was part of the pile that celebrated on the field at Busch Stadium.

The hardest thing about not playing last year is people feeling sorry for me because I wasnt there, Wainwright, 30, said. Dont feel sorry for me. I had so much fun.

Now, the fun is stepping on the mound every third day, something Wainwright has been doing since he arrived in South Florida...

Posted by has blogged 1307

Theres talk of snow on Sunday in Baltimore, so Im not taking any chances. Ill be on a plane tonight (Friday) for Tampa to join our new beat writer Eduardo Encina for the start of pitcher and catcher workouts at the Orioles sparkling training facility in Sarasota.

The clubhouse complex and redesigned practice fields are now ready and Im hearing its all pretty sweet. If only the team looked that good.

The team looks…well…interesting. There are column ideas all over the place, and — lets face it —...
